Half Knotted Display Piece
A client was designing the offices of a Handicrafts Exhibition Hall at a Museum and wanted a half woven rug to hang on the wall to show how rugs are manufactured.

Once the design was finalised, we started by mapping their image based design to a CAD drawing. They needed a 8ft x 5ft wall hanging piece with a large motif jutting out from one side.
After discussions with our team it was decided that a Kilim rug would be the best solution. We started working on the colors required and the stencils for each of the individual design components. For such a beautiful design piece we decided to use 100% New Zealand wool for the construction. Once the colours were approved the weaving was begun.
We kept the client updated on progress with images and videos every couple of days. It took a total of 18 days to build the rug and finish all the post weaving processes. However at the end, the client wanted us to add wooden rods with walnut polish so that it could be shipped directly to the site and installed immediately. We usually dont take on any carpentry work but we also find saying No to our clients very hard. As the images show, we added the wooden planks to the ends as well, triple packed the piece and shipped it off to them.
